Roland Upper Elementary would like to recognize and show appreciation to one of our staff members, Ms. Rhonda Vanzandt. She has been at Roland for several years, and she has spent the majority of her time as the elementary music teacher. In her free time she is the praise and worship leader at her church, she raises chickens, and she loves creating art work. Ms. Rhonda's favorite type of music is praise and worship, and her all time favorite singer is Elvis. Ms. Rhonda is extremely talented. She can play the piano, bass, some banjo, organ, and ukulele. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Rhonda.

Our Pre-K kiddos got to ride on the "Cool Bus" to the pep rally this afternoon. Our awesome Asst. Superintendent took the kiddos for a ride in style in our new activity bus to the Dome to cheer on our Rangers. They had a blast!

Congratulations to our middle school football boys! They finished this season 6-2.

Prepare for snow this upcoming winter according to our Roland Middle School students! A couple weeks ago Mrs. Wise introduced her students to the popular weather folklore concerning persimmon seeds. As the folklore goes, the inside of a persimmon seed can give an indication of the conditions of the upcoming winter. Typically when you cut open a persimmon seed you are likely to see one of three shapes inside; a fork, knife or spoon. The fork is said to stand for a mild winter, while the knife shape means that there will be frigid winds. The majority of our students opened their seed to see a spoon which means to expect plenty of snow.
