On Saturday, November 16, The Big Boy Steam Engine wasn’t the only thing rolling into town in Roland, Oklahoma. It was the official start to the VEX Robotics season. Roland Schools hosted the first official tournament of the year, which qualified four teams for slots in the state tournament in the spring. Teams from all over the state came to compete and try to fill the slots. The home school entered 7 robots into the 40-team competition. At the end of the day, Roland had three teams qualify for state. Team 9545 W earned the title of Tournament Champions. Team 9545 A won the Excellence Award in the middle school division. Team 9545 Z was awarded the Excellence Award in the high school division. Once again Roland has proven that we are a force to be reckoned with in the field of robotics.
